Upper Italy Tour - 6 / 8 days

This tour is a round trip through upper Italy. On a distance of approximately 1.800 km you will discover upper Italy from a very specific and individual perspective.

The tour is full of typical Italian sceneries and after its completion you will have a completely different impression of this country. The tour starts close to the airport of Verona, an ancient town with a rich Roman history. As an example there is to mention the magnificent Roman theatre which is still used for operas and concerts. The visit of this city is worth arriving one day earlier or to leave one day later.

We ride southwards through the big plane of the river Po, drive past some famous towns like Mantua and cross the Apennines mountains in the region of Genua. We will have the first night stop on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, this is Italy as its best! The next day we leave this holiday region quite early to have a look at the vineyards of Asti, famous for its pearl vine and champagne. We proceed to the begin of the wild Ligurian Alps, where we will stop for the next night. Narrow and deep roads wait for us the following day. Off we go to the Alps and move northwards over specific passes and through wild gorges. There is the opportunity to take rough roads for those who are brave enough. The fourth day shall bring us to an altitude of more than 2.600m on the Col de Nivolet. As we start at around 200m this will be utlimate adventure of the tour!

We then arrive in the region of the upper Italian lakes, characteristic for its elegant villages and the rough mountains inbetween. Pizza and pasta, latte macchiato and espresso, the visit of one of the beautiful restaurants gives us a deep impression of Italian way of life.

The tour ends at the southern bank of the famous lake Garda from where you surely do not want to leave too fast.

The riders of the 8 day trip, which starts and ends in Munich have to add two beautiful riding days through the main rim of the Alps.
