Tips for the tour

Driving Style

Each rider himself is responsible for following the national traffic rules- when riding on his own authority, as well as when riding behind a guide. All riders should show consideration for their team mates, particularly for those, who are less experienced than they are.

Please always hold effectual safety distance to the rider in front of you. Out of town it shall be between 40 and 50 meters (for the definition you may use the difference between 2 reflector posts, which is 50 meters). When we come into the cities we stay closer to each other or ride side by side. When we have to turn, we try to handle it all together. If this is not possible, due to traffic lights or two-way traffic, we wait at the curbside. If it is necessary to pass slower vehicles, we do it one after the other. We do it with regard to the safety of our group: Those, who finished, let enough space for the next to come behind. Please be sure that the guide and the group always will wait for the last rider. There is be no need to rush. Safety first !

Choose your position in the group. Due to the effect, that the last rider must drive faster than the others (accordeon-effect), the more experienced riders shall drive there. Those, who are not so familiar with riding, shall drive directly behind the guide. His ride is constant and slower. Please check the mirror from time to time to have a look at your following rider. If he is missing, slow down your speed or stop at the curbside. By the time he has caught up, proceed to the rest of the group.

If all riders including the guide comply with this rule, no one will be lost.

If you have suggestions concerning interesting stops (f.e. for taking pictures), talk about it with the guide in advance. Once you go ahead, please wait at any crossing or turn-off!

Technical tip: If you have a short stop, please stop the engine via kill-switch at the right end of the steering bar. The lights will stay active and you don´t have to let go the grips.

Filling up

We always fill up the tanks together, independently of the actual level in your tank. So we avoid additional stops. The guide will stop always in time and everybody completely fills up his tank.

This is important at the end of the tour, when we have to return the bikes filled up.

Loose of the group

If you have lost your group against all caution, please do the following:

1. Wait for 20 minutes at the point, where you have seen the group for the last time.

2. Try to contact the guide or other participants via mobile message.

3. If this is not successful, then proceed to the next inn and park your bike on the street.

4. From here you can contact the hotel for the next night, the guide or our office and inform them about your actual location.

5. Our guide will come and pick you up. Don´t leave the inn, where you are and don´t try to follow the group without having any instructions from the guide.

Tips for the bike and clothing

Touring-bikes

The bike are equipped with side bags (mostly).

In case of a damage you have to fill in the damage form together with the guide. Please note, that you are responsible for returning the bike to the BMW Center in Munich, excactly where you received it.

All bikes are fully insured with a deductible of € 1.000.- in case of self caused damage. This comes in addition to possible transport costs. The coverage of those costs has to be guaranteed by a caution. The caution can be covered by your creditcard, therefore please hand over the completed  form to us.

Clothing

We recommend to use a kind of clothing, which is tear proof, waterproof and comfortable. The textile suit should have protectors at ellbows, shoulders and knees. Please bring special motorcycle clothes from a suitable manufacturer. Also please use good quality motorcycle gloves and boots.

Take special care about a suitable helmet, don´t use cheap products without certificate.
